Hed Mayner Spring 2025: Exploring Proportions and Innovative Menswear Designs

Hed Mayner’s Spring 2025 collection is one of my favorites of the season, and his brand is definitely one to watch. The collection was a masterclass in playing with proportions, featuring unique cut-outs and a thoughtful choice of fabrics that made it captivating from start to finish.

Mayner’s work often revolves around proportion, usually marked by wide shoulders and grounding silhouettes. This season, however, he took a different approach by focusing on textiles—British plaids, luxe Italian wools, lightweight Oxfords, and plush polyester herringbones—to create the shapes of his garments. Despite this shift, his commitment to proportion remained, seen in the way he crafted slimmer, statuesque silhouettes through innovative tailoring techniques, like creasing herringbones for a relaxed look and bonding shirt fabrics to maintain structure around the chest.

The collection also showcased Mayner’s knack for elevating wearable pieces in unexpected ways, such as the use of oversized belts, platform sandals with belt detailing, and shirts with open backs. Notable were his papery cotton shirts, some slit down the back or designed with criss-crossed plackets and oversized cuffs worn as a peplum-cum-cummerband, further emphasizing his inventive approach to menswear.

Mayner’s jackets, stripped of collars and lapels, cocooned around the body with necklines extended to crash against the neck, creating a sense of “active repose”—a modern take on classical contrapposto. His collection, true to his introspective and distinct point of view, captivated a tight yet passionate audience, reinforcing why Hed Mayner’s work remains so compelling and forward-thinking in the world of fashion.

About Hed Mayner and the Brand

Hed Mayner launched his eponymous label in 2015, quickly establishing himself as a distinct voice in contemporary menswear. Born and raised in Israel, Mayner studied at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem before refining his craft at the prestigious Institut Français de la Mode in Paris. His unique background, straddling both Middle Eastern influences and European tailoring traditions, has profoundly shaped his approach to design.

Mayner’s brand is known for its exploration of proportions and silhouettes that challenge traditional menswear conventions. From oversized garments with exaggerated shoulders to carefully constructed layers, his work often blurs the line between casual and formal, creating a sense of fluidity and ease in his collections. Mayner’s designs reflect an introspective approach, focusing on reimagining classic menswear elements with a modern, architectural twist.

Throughout his career, Mayner has consistently demonstrated a commitment to craftsmanship and innovation, emphasizing high-quality textiles and meticulous construction. His collections often feature luxurious fabrics such as Italian wools and British plaids, combined with thoughtful design elements that elevate everyday pieces into wearable art.

In 2019, Mayner’s rising influence in the fashion industry was recognized when he won the prestigious Karl Lagerfeld Prize at the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers. This accolade propelled his brand into the international spotlight, cementing his reputation as one of the most promising designers in menswear today. With each new collection, Mayner continues to push the boundaries of traditional tailoring, making his brand a standout in the fashion world and a favorite among those who appreciate innovative, boundary-pushing design.
